How to Play

The Setup: Label the four walls of the hall as North, South, East, and West. Have all youth start in the very center of the hall.

The Command: The Leader calls out a direction (e.g., “East!”) and begins a loud countdown from 5 down to 1.

The Action: The youth must quickly run to that wall before the countdown reaches zero.

The Elimination: The last person to reach the corner, or anyone who runs to the incorrect corner, is out. Eliminated players sit in the middle to act as “obstacles” that the remaining players must run around.

Winning: The last remaining Joey or Cub is the winner.

Leader Tips

For older Cubs, you can make this harder by adding the intercardinal points (North-East, South-West, etc.) using the sides of the walls between the corners.
